Born to Taiwanese parents and raised in South Carolina, Michael Huang has always reveled in his outsider status. Drawing inspiration from the collision of personal and cultural identities, his unconventional upbringing fuels his humorous and irreverent approach to multidisciplinary design.
Michael graduated from Yale University in 2009 with a BA in Architecture. With this foundation serving as the underpinning of his craft, he continued to experiment with multidisciplinary design while working in Copenhagen. He moved to New York in 2011, and, after internships with Rag & Bone and Peter Som, Michael was hired by Helmut Lang to assist on footwear and accessories. In 2014, he joined the Eugenia Kim team as a hat designer and product developer.
Today, Michael is the creative director at men’s hosiery line, Ace & Everett. Upon joining the team in 2016, he spearheaded a company-wide rebrand and implemented new sales strategies. The line was picked up by Bergdorf Goodman in 2017.
